ZESTY MARGARITA

INGREDIENTS

  • Ice Cubes
  • 3oz. tequila
  • 2oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1oz. Simple Syrup (recipe follows)
  • 1 tsp. orange liqueur
  • 1 tbsp. Lime-Salt-Sugar (recipe follows)

 TO MAKE SIMPLE SYRUP:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Combine sugar and water in a small sauce pan. Cook over low heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator until ready to use (can be made up to one month ahead).

TO MAKE LIME-SALT-SUGAR:

  • Zest of one lime (using BAR STAR citrus zester)
  • 2 tbsp. Kosher salt
  • 2 tbsp. sugar

Blend together lime zest, salt and sugar in a small blender or food processor.

TO MAKE ZESTY CLASSIC MARGARITA:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, simple syrup and orange liqueur. Cover and shake until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds. Place Lime-Salt-Sugar on a small plate. Press the rim of a chilled glass into the mixture to cover the edges. Add ice, then strain margarita into glass. Garnish with a lime if desired. Drink up!
